We just can't say enough good things about NAS Corpus and the campground. If you're late, your camp package is at the door of the sailing center, under the porch, waiting on you with all the info you need to be successful. The staff is great and helpful too. We did not use the laundry or the rest room/shower so we can't speak to those; but, the commissary, barber shop, exchange and auto center are excellent. The auto center has air/water for your vehicles if you need it and some oil/air filters, windshield wipers, etc. In the past, we have had to change our arrangements last minute and this has never been a problem. Ava at the desk is awesome and goes out of her way to help. Remember, if you are DAV and NOT retired, you will have to stop at the gate and register yourself and your guests if you have any. If you arrive after the pass office closes, the guards are kind to let you through for the night as long as you take care of that business the next day. In the past, the mosquitoes and ants were bad; but, this time, not so much. We were told by the MWR folks at the awesome golf course that they had been spraying for bugs which reduced the ants and mosquitoes. Make sure to visit Malaquite Beach and go on south to drive on the island. You can drive 80 or so miles down Padre Island if you have 4WD. Go Navy!!! God bless America!!!!!!
