We've been coming up here since the new campground opened and have watch it mature into a nice get-away. Unfortunately, with the maturity comes some issues. First, the "Navy Beds" website won't assign a space and a direct call to the check-in desk can't assign a site until the website 'tells' them. With that said, the desk does call the incoming campers to tell them their sites. The campground map is wrong and misleading with 'extra' roads between campsites. We setup in the wrong site! We didn't realize it until the next day! Strangely, the site we were assigned to appeared to still have 'stuff' from the previous camper. We went to the office to 'confess' our mistake and they were understanding but were unaware that the site was not cleaned for the next camper. They sent a person to check he site. Everybody was very friendly and professional. Apparently, there is a disconnect between the desk and the camp host. Speaking of the camp host, they are no longer on spot 6, the first spot you come to. They are on Spot 1, at the end of the first street (this week). Second, the sites are not policed between campers to ensure the site is 'ready' and clean for a new camper. The groundskeeping contractors do not trim the trees so you are on your own to make sure the limbs clear your RV. Third, some folks staying there don't keep their sites neat and clean per the published rules. It also appears that about half the sites are occupied by permanent party. During the Thanksgiving weekend it was clear that people had left for the weekend and left their campers there. The bath house is getting tired and the door locks have been replaced at least three times based on the number of holes in the doors. The management has given up on supplying Wi-Fi. It hasn't worked since the CG opened despite assurances. Verizon only has 1, maybe 2 bars of service, despite there being 3 bars and 5G at the gate. There are new signs around, which is nice. There are numerous streetlights out and that's a concern coming down "B" street because it turns into a 'black hole' until you turn a corner and see the CG. The minimart no longer sells diesel fuel because of a hole in the tank and no repair plan/date. Also be aware of arriving, large parts of the Colonial Parkway are closed until the winter of 2025. There is only one way to get there, exit 242 off of I-64. The best thing about this park is its proximity to the 'Colonial Triangle' (Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown) Everything you need is in the Williamsburg area, about 10-15 minutes away.
