Apache Flats is under new management … be advised, Brenda is gone. I’ve stayed here many times but there are changes. Price is up, $35 a night. Apparently you must have a reservation now. If you arrive early and want to check in, it’s a $15 fee. Upon arrival, you are given four pages of rules and requirements. You must initial each rule, sign, and return it NLT the next day. Your RV must be RVIA certified with a numbered seal on the exterior. The office manager will go out and check. It was off putting to go through this process to get a site. There may be other changes I am not aware of. Of course, the view and the surrounding area is wonderful. Is the paperwork and requirements really necessary? The apparent rationale is these measures keep out the undesirable tenants. Really? Posted rules are binding whether you read them or not. Paperwork is not really required.

First and foremost, follow the directions from Militarycampgrounds.us to gain access to the base and to the park. The park is all pull-thru, concrete pad surrounded by gravel and desert trees (minimal shade), each site had table and grill. Fairly level. You must drive half-way into the park to check in at the office (all roads are one-way), we had no issues with navigating the turns and into our site. (12). Location of the utilities is a bit strange. Elec and water near the middle and sewer towards the rear of the site, made a stretch for my sewer one way and power-water the other. Water, 80pse and electric was stable. Now here is the “I didn’t know part”, they have cable tv to each site AND park Wifi (better nearer the office) WHAT!!!?! Yep, you heard me… wifi was 18-20 DL and pretty stable, the TV didn’t have an on-air guide, and the only reference was a page you need to take a picture of in the office. Very quiet, minus the bugle calls, and YES, we did get turkeys wandering thru, also found deer and turkey vultures nearby. Never did see any javalina. The PX and Commissary are fairly close and decent size and stock. Negatives, the dog park is a small (about 8’x10’) fenced area, dirt – no grass, the wild grasses and (?) weeds could use some attention thru-out the park. Replacement for the dog park is a nicely grassed, small and large dog park, located near the on-base school on Burns St. If you want to grab a paper map of the base, stop at the MI Library and Museum on Hatfield (the street you enter the base on).

Can't say enough about this RV park on Ft. Huachuca. We live in the area and spent 2 months in our RV on base to test run everything before we traveled full time for a year. It perfectly located. We got plenty of snow this year up there. Lots of wildlife and super quiet at night. Everyone is always friendly there. The facilities are maintained beautifully and we never once had an issue. Do watch out for the javelinas that love to hang around the camps eating the mesquite pods. This is a must stay for anyone looking.

New campground mgmr John, is doing a great job. Several new restrictions are in place to keep the place from becoming a trashy homesteaders’ trailer park. We battled mice and pack rats this visit. They nested in our tire covers, ate thru & tore them up. So I suggest not using them here this winter. 1st time we’ve had this infestation in our many winters here. That’s the only reason for a 4 in overall experience. Otherwise -great place to escape the Alaskan winter. Beginning Dec 1 the post returned to requiring masks inside bldgs. Cochise County Covid numbers went up making it required for Ft H also.

New floors in the office. Bathhouse renovation is completed. The pull thru dump station near the office is complete. The air compressor in the pull thru is operational again. The post is free of the mask requirement. In short- Apache Flats is just like everyone says-terrific. The only negative is long time camp mgmr Brenda B. Is retiring 1May 2022. She’s Gona be a real hard act to follow. She will be missed. Call the office before she leaves and tell her thank you & adios.

Everything you read here is positively true. Here is a quiet and lovely FamCamp to spend your time in the warm Arizona sunshine. There is much to do and explore. Quite cool at night but pleasant when the sun rises. Beware of strange weather patterns.. Sleet off the mountains and some days of quite heavy wind. We enjoyed the wildlife on post. Mule deer in every corner of the post and many miles of remote roads to explore. Be sure to visit Tombstone and Bisbee, AZ within just a few miles. As we had checked out in mid-April.. they were just finishing the large RV dump station. This is an added benefit. Camp Host and Brenda to the office were most helpful. In a nutshell .. I LOVE it!. Enjoy.

Nice peaceful, quiet, clean, safe RV camp, managed well. We've enjoyed our visits here and the storage facility is great for us snow birds, we leave the motorhome there when we drive down and stay near Mazatlan for 2-3 months. Brenda keeps things squared away by running with a polite, yet hard fist. Well done to her and her small staff. We will see you again this fall. Grateful for Ft Huachuca, a healing place for me.

GREAT campground. Beautifully situated with views of the mountains, and nicely appointed with nearby hiking trails. Gorgeous sunsets and local wildlife! coyotes and javelinas and beautiful birds! We loved our time here. The pads are concrete and nicely spaced. they also have a "bump out" for the picnic table. The manager Brenda is a gem. Very personable and helpful, and she will make change for you for the laundry. Just loved our time there and hated to leave. Great day trips out to bisbee, the caverns and tombstone. One thing on the wish list is that The laundry washers and dryers could use some love, some don't heat and some only wash cold. they could probably use a few more units too. NOTE: pups & bike tires beware - the goatheads will get you! we had bike flats immediately upon arriving and riding and the neighbor had two. our dog got them stuck in his paws nearly everyday. mostly on the roads and some of the trails. ** also there are many pathway lights that go all night and are pretty bright. luckily I had made blackout curtains for the bedroom in our rv. you won't need those rope lights under your camper!

Just arr’d after a pandemic/Canadian border inflicted absence of 17 months. I’m glad to say everything is just as nice as when we left. The office, Bathhouse/laundry is being re-tiled, but still functions in reduced hrs. There are several new traffic circles on post so watch yourself. Campground is about half full. But it will fill up. Post has mandatory mask rule indoors. Otherwise same wonderfully managed RV park as all reviews state.

This is an exceptional RV Park! I believe their 60 and 90 day stay limits are a big part of why the are a cut above most Military parks. We didn’t see anyone who was dug in for the long haul. Plus, it’s small compared to famcamps like Davis-Monthan. The laundry was very clean and the reception upon arrival was first class. Spaces between sites was ok. The only thing that I would mark them down on was the rude lighting along the walkway path that runs through the middle of the park that is so bright that it will shine through your pulled blinds. Also, they have a written rule that pets are not to use the gravel but instead should use one of the 2 pet areas on the ends which might be hundreds of yards from your site. That’s not a realistic rule, as dogs will go where they want to go.

In a fairly remote part of the post but that contributes to the quiet. No trains or obnoxiously loud car mufflers drag racing at night. Only the coyotes howling. Spacious sites, tables & grills, nice office/laundry/shower bldg. Ft Huachuca was way larger and more modern than we anticipated. Would go back for a longer stay in a heart beat.

This is one of the best run MWR parks in the nation, but if you are a stargazer, forget it! This place is lit up like Las Vegas at night.

All published info on this website is correct. A few tidbits of additional info: you can get a POBox on post, $46 for 6 months. Daily fee published is correct however monthly rate is $550. May be cheaper to pay for a month. Park is closed to new arrivals but laundry & bathhouse remain open. The whole Post is “Covid’ed “. The Ft. Huachuca FB page has been best source for current info. RV Park office is the only MWR office currently manned. Hats off to camp grd hosts Dave & Anne and the AF RV Park MWR crew filling in for Brenda. Colleen, Emily, & Lisa have been great. This Covid “thing” is miserable but being here during the whole thing has been a blessing. What a fantastic facility & staff.

Wonderful campground. Be sure and follow the written directions. Use the main gate when coming from I-10. Spots are level and paved. Roads paved. Staff was very nice and friendly and helpful. Very clean bathrooms and showers. Nice office and laundry. Even has a 5G WiFi network, we were able to stream TV on it! Be sure and do the walking tour on post and go the the museums. The PC is smaller but nice. Our only disappointment was the lack of weed control. All the sites are overgrown with grass and weeds. Even the cracks in the pads have tall grass growing in them. Looks like there has been nothing done all summer. We would stay here again.

Not much to add as everyone hits the greatness of location etc. Negatives are lack of on-site manager during our stay and rule changes that no longer allow delivery of packages to RV campground. If you elect to have the packages delivered to local UPS store the cost at the time was $5 per package plus tax. Post office you can receive general delivery for 30 days and they require you to complete a form. After 30 days you must get a post office box. We had family in the area and it wasn’t an issue; be aware if meds etc are sent to the RV address they WILL NOT be delivered or held for you.

Apache Flats’ great reputation is so widespread now, it’s not even necessary for me to add mine. This has been our “snowbird” home now for the past 2 yrs and I can’t see any reason to change. Hats off to Ft Huachuca!! “The” example for US Mil FamCamp’s.

Double wide level concrete sites FHU including cable and booming WiFi Laundry room was spacious and rarely busy Pet walking area/ trails Papa Johns will deliver to site (though our order took over an hour so you may want to just pick it up) Check in office is in the process of moving so you may be checking in with a camp host The whole base is fairly walk-able Near Tombstone, several AZ state parks The base has a theater, bowling alley, 2 gyms, museum, commissary, PX, golf course (entrance is located off post) Tip: Diesel prices on base were cheaper than found in town.

The base is nice, and the RV Park is nicer. Big, level places. Nice showers, nice laundry, nice grounds. The great thing is that if you make the max reservation of 60 days, you do not have to move, like in Davis--Monthan AFB. Now in the winter it is about 10 degrees colder than Tucson, so be advised. We got about 4 inches of snow (and then it melted), Tucson got a little. FYI to everyone, they are just about to stop letting FedEx and UPS from delivering to the park (they would not deliver to the space, just to the office and the office is now moved). You can't get Amazon Prime delivery either (and the Town of Sierra Vista does NOT have an Amazon Lockers). WiFi is good (I do not use it that often as I have a Verizon Jet-pack that works great). My spot has cable and it is great, power has been real good as well.
