I am new to this Full Time RV'ing thing and I love to garden but haven't had a decent garden for years. Let's kick around an Idea I have running around in my little head. What if MWR had a program at all the Military Camp grounds that offered gardening? Not just Air Force or Army, but for all the military Family RV Camps. A space for a garden would be allotted adjacent to each Famcamp. Anyone interested in signing up would pay a fee of say $20.00 for the use of the garden and reap the benefits of the garden wherever you end up at harvesting time. You would get a card with your name on it with an expiration date for one year. This card would be good at any participating famcamp with a garden. Say 50 people sign up at each famcamp, that would give each camp $1000.00 to purchase the supplies needed to maintain that garden at that particular famcamp. Ie, hoes, shovels, racks, wheel barrow, seeds, hoses, etc. I think the horse stables could donate manure for the gardens too. What do you thing people? Good Idea? Bad Idea? It sure would give us something rewarding to do and if we had extra food in the fall, we could donate to a local homeless shelter too! See you in the garden!

Can't be too bad of an idea. Wateree Recreation Area (SC) started a small community garden last year. It's free - guests take care of it, guests reap the rewards.
Your idea has merit, but try getting numerous MWR to agree to it and coordinate would be impossible. Perhaps you can talk individual FamCamps into creating a small garden, but not charge for it.
For more info on the Wateree Recreation Area garden, email them. Curt Marshall, the manager, was responsible for getting it going.
