I wanted to bring attention to a problem I'm having here on the forum, which others may or may not be having. I am having much difficulty reading forum articles due to the 'GOOGLE' ad's pop-ups; they cover much of the article/forum comments, to the point that I am missing much of the readings. Is there a way to see the articles in its entirety, without the blocking views, or bother means? I would really like to be able to read the recent write up about Veterans and Access to bases/posts. Please advise.
As for the condition of Maxwell AFB Fam Camp, the trailer park "housing" issues, cleanliness, lack of response from manager, etc, I experienced these same conditions for the past eighteen plus years. These same conditions, for the most part, have been going on here at Maxwell for some time, and have been reported to MWR and to the Wing for years; likely every year by many folks. When my wife was attending COT over eighteen years ago, this was an issue. When my father and father in-law were here, this was an issue. When I traveled back and forth from WPAFB, OH to NAS Pensacola, FL, on the down run, for four years, I would lay over here at the Fam Camp, and I experienced this poor quality services and attitude over and over and over again. I have even brought these issues to the Wing Command at "O" call, and the same complacent response was metered out, on more than one occasion. "Hm? Wow? Oh really? Not sure about this. What can I say. I'll have someone look into it" were always the responses.
You see, it's an attitude thing, here at Maxwell AFB, and likely many other sites. And, it's been going on for longer than eighteen years. It's not much different than Barksdale, albeit they now have another area of Fam Camp for more RV'ers, so they have spent some money and made some upgrades. To hear it from AD personnel, straight up, "if you don't like it, leave. This is our time, and we will do what ever we want." Yes, I heard these comments come out of the mouth of a Commander. No names. So, this is what you're dealing with. It's not just MWR, it's the Wing too. Or, it was the Wing then.
As for the veterans access to bases write up. I would really like to be able to read your comments in its entirety. How can I do this without Ad popups blocking the words? From what I was able to see and read, this is a great concise write up, and it could be shared with many folks who would benefit. I can't say that I haven't experienced the same convoluted and inconsistent security mishaps, from time to time, base to base, depending on who's on duty. This is likely due to lack of training from leadership (SF/Wing) and an unconcerned attitude, like the MWR Fam Camp issue at Maxwell. I have seen it at numerous bases/posts, and the attitude is becoming a 'stand of right'. Those who are AD are losing so many beneficial "activities/benefits" and their cultures as AD members are changing, as well as their dependents, that they feel like they need to maintain a stand for their own, for their AD side of the house. Yes, I hear this frequently from AD members, in person at gatherings, and even at "O" Calls.
Just my observations, and feedback.
Please advise to the readings.
