Reservation Policy

Called yesterday to get a reservation for a pull-through at Pelican. Was told that a pull-through required a 4 to 6 week lead reservation. No problem, I guess, but this kinda' milks the advantage of military RV camp flexibility and promotes squatter re-visits and lock-ins. I have a neck mobility problem which makes it difficult to swivel during backing. Not your problem, I know, but I would appreciate an occaisonal opportunity to be able to visit such a fine RV Park without such a lengthy lead time. Perhaps a time reduced choice of specific lot type would be more fair for each reservation rather than giving all pull-through lots to first reserved. I have sat at Pelican and watched Pull-throughs sit empty and idle during a 3 day stay - doesn't make sense!

For your thoughts,

Hi Steve. They have 18 waterfront spots and I think they may be the only pull throughs. Those sites are in high demand as you've found and everyone has an equal shot to get one with their reservation rules. I've been calling daily in case they got a cancellation and today I got lucky. Sorry to hear about your neck. I've seen staff help folks park in the back in's and suspect they'd be happy to help you. We stay there a couple of times a year and I don't think squatters are a problem at the Roost. They even have a second campground on base that allows longer stays. Some have pointed out the number of staff but I think that's part of the reason the campground is maintained so well. We're looking forward to our stay there and hope the rain gives us a break.
