This ought to stir some folks up. To call this place a military recreation area is a gross overstatement! Ninty percent of the sites are rented to "full-timers" or "permanent residents" as they like to call themselves. I wonder how many of these people are really connected to the military and authorized to used these facilities. I'm not saying all but I think that most of these folks think they own the place. They built add-on's to their RVs and personnal docks on the lake. Again some, not all treat recreational RVers like crap because they are intruding into their territory. Now the area is closed during the winter and these people are whining about the whiners making them move out. They claim that they are paying the bills so folks that come for a short time will have a place to stay. How nice of them. Some of these folks have been there for 15 years as permanent residents by their own admission. I'm one person that's happy they closed this place for the winter and kicked these people out. I've been there before and couldn't get a site. The area where these permanent residents "live" looks like a slum. I don't want any part of it. These whiners think the park will close permanently after this summer season. If the only reason this place exists is for homesteaders, let it close.
