I'm a big supporter of Pelican Roost and have posted glowing comments in years past. I still think it is one of the best locations for a military campground. We just finished a one week stay and had a great time but I did notice some things that were not great. The campground does not seem to be maintained as well as it has in the past. I always used to see someone cutting the grass and working on something. It seemed when someone left they got the grass cut before the next arrival. This time I didn't see that attention to detail. The campground used to have the reputation of "dog police" but that seems to have changed too. I'm a dog person but this visit I saw a number of folks walking their dogs off leash and staking them outside unattended. I don't know what has changed. It's always been volunteer help that maintained the campground so it's not sequestration. We still feel fortunate to have such a great MCG near us and hope to have many more great visits.
