As far as I can tell, the Dauphin Island Campground doesn't belong to the Coast Guard. I'm not aware of the Coast Guard having a campground there. If I'm wrong, please send me all the info you can on a Coast Guard campground there. Thanks!

A long time ago, I mean like 30 years, there used to be a small recreation area/campground located on Dauphin Island on the beach just a little way from Fort Gaines and the Coast Guard Station down on Agassiz St. Wow that was a long sentence. Last time I set fool there was probably 1991. One of the many hurricanes in the late 90's pretty much wiped it out and the CG never restored it. It's a shame too, because it was a nice little place. If you drive down the street you will come to a sign that still says CG Recreation area, but it is gated and padlocked.
