Barksdale AFB FamCamp

Many of you may be aware that Barksdale AFB FamCamp is doing an upgrade. Here's some info I just received (too late to put in the eNewsletter):

The (Barksdale AFB Famcamp) upgrades are coming along but the rain has slowed things down, we just installed the new transformer and are working on the 20 new sites as well as the club/bath house. At the completion of the new sites we will close the existing 22 sites and replace the power as well as the area around those sites, final completion is scheduled for Jun but we are optimistic for an early completion.

Also, I received this update on road conditions getting to the base gate:

The exit for Barksdale AFB Famcamp, I-20 Eastbound, Exit 23 (?), is under repair as of today. The exit ramp is now narrow but usable, the on ramp is totally closed. RV'er may wish to use East Texas St to reenter I-20. West bound I-20 is not under construction at this time. Just be careful!!

We left Barksdale on Easter Sunday, 2007 . That was April's Fool's day this yr., by the way . The new bathhouse was complete and they had their inspection. It looks great but wasn't opened to the public just yet. The new concrete pads were all in, & fast & furious landscaping and grassing was underway. Brand new streetlights were in & working. Most of the e/w hookups have been moved to the correct side of the older pads. It's loking really nice. Should be completed & open by 1 May according to CG office. The roads are still gravel, but lots of new gravel was piled up; hopefully to level out the CGS rds. We'll be back in Sept to report on it, if no one has done so by then.
