To improve service and availability, Lackland AFB FamCamp recently added additional RV sites. However, the additional RV sites have received mixed reviews. Since they take customer responses seriously and monitor this website, I received a "Memorandum" from them to help explain the new sites and plans for the future.

You can download or read the Lackland AFB FamCamp Memorandum here.

Larry,
Thanks for the feedback, however I had problems reading it as I do not have "WORD" ( it cost to get it and the free "WORKS" is just fine with me). Most documents are put in acrobat reader format where everyone can read it.
I was passing thru San Antonio earlier this year and tried to get into either Lackland or Fort Sam Houston. Lackland said they no longer have an overflow as they converted the spots to hookups.
Personally I feel it would be nice if ALL Military CG's would allow RV'rs a spot to even dry camp for overnight. Most of us who are just passing thru can do without any hookups for a night and just want a safe place to spend the night and partake of the Exchange or Commissary and maybe even the Culb. Also most bases that do have the drycamp overflow also allow you to use the clubhouse, shower, etc.
Every base that has an RV park or CG should have an area for "Overnighter Dry Campers" and should provide this. I would not be offended in paying a small fee for this service.
Many times I have called a CG that did not take reservations to see if they had a spot for the night, and was told that they don't and that either the overflow was full or non-existant (Shield's in Gulfport comes to mind as one that does not have an overflow).
Maybe we sould start a thread to allow us to vent our thoughts along this line.
Just my $.03 worth.
Frank

Larry,
Just a thought, but I thought Lackland was in the South West, and not the South East.

Who said it was in the SouthEast? ;) This category is called "SOUTH and SouthEast". For categorizing topics here, Texas is consdered part of the South. ::)

I just posted the file the way I received it. But you have a valid point (although acrobat reader is now required). I've converted the file to a .pdf.
