Found this posted by Mark Nemeth on the Escapees Forum this a.m. and thought it might be worth passing on since Mark is a 'usually reliable source' ...

Camp Lejeune Guests May Face Health Risk
Week of November 24, 2008
Text Follows:

The Marine Corps is searching for at least 500,000 people who have visited Camp Lejeune, NC and could be at risk for health problems due to the drinking water on base. Chemicals from a building used to wash clothes for dry cleaning and de-greasing were found in the water system. More than 80,000 people have registered, which is only a fraction of the veterans and visitors who could be affected. Those who have visited or lived on the base between 1957 and 1987 should register by visiting the Marine Corps' Camp Lejeune Water Study website or by calling (877) 261-9782.

Mark Nemeth called Lejeune and was told, "I spoke with the water study folks this morning. They told me that the primary water quality study was for two areas of base housing, but that folks who have stayed at the Oslo Beach campground may want to call that number and register, so that they will receive information on the study results. "

Never camped there myself - I was primarily a West Coast/Asia Marine. But thought there might a few on this forum this applied to.

Some people wonder all their lives if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem.” Ronald Reagan

Everyone who was there during those dates need to register. I just found out about it at the Vet Center in Bangor, Maine. Was there in 68 and again in 70. Just go online and its simple and painless. Checkout Mustang3's post for the web site.
