We did a drive through of the Camp Blanding RV Park today. (James E. Johnson RV Park).
It’s been more than two years since we visited this RV Park and the changes and upgrades are just too numerous to list. The overall improvement in the old section is 100% better than it was two years ago. The biggest disappointment was the condition of the two camp host sites. It just goes to show that no matter who the “homesteader’ is the site will become trashy. During our Wednesday afternoon visit both were absent. Both restroom facilities near the camp hosts sites were a mess and in much need of some general clean-up. We visited the Recreation office and talked with the attendant. RV sites are reserved by site number and stored in a computer. Although that may sound like a good way to do things it really makes it very difficult to stay on a single site for your entire stay if longer than a week or two. About 30% of the sites were actually occupied but the only site the attendant could guarantee for a 30 day stay was a drive through site near the main road (#25). There is no length of stay between 1 October and 1 April. Pet rules are strictly enforced and the number one reason for being asked to leave early. Make sure your pet’s papers are with you and up to date when checking in there. In the winter months every third day is free. They keep your credit card on file and run it every month and each time you have to change sites. Free fire wood is strategically stacked throughout the park. I talked with a couple of campers and found that their cell phone signals were strong and they also had good air card signals with different carriers. My cell phone signal (Verizon) was very strong there. About 40% of the sites are situated in heavy tall trees making it very difficult to impossible to get a dish TV signal. All local channels are captured with your power ant.. Then we ran out of time. Here are a few pictures.

FE -- too bad I missed you - was there a couple times last month for a few days each time. And will be there again in a couple weeks for a week too (around March 1 or so)
Kinda like it there, although would be nice if the rest room got some attention once in a while. And, agree with the 'site hosts' - could use a little upgrading, or upkeeping to make it look other than a 'trailer park' host site.
But it's quiet, and close enough to town to get in, do stuff, and get out.

from 96 - 2000 we used to stay there at least once a month,
tie the boat up off shore and just flat relax for a week
we lived in Jacksonville so it was a not to far trip for short weekend visits
back then pets were forbidden, and the camp host sites sound like they haven't changed
no reservations back then either.
we never had time for sat tv, to busy skiing or fishing
thanks for the update, i would love to visit again

M44 - Do you have an American Leagon membership card? The post on San Juan Blvd. in Jacksonville, FL has 6 FHU sites with CATV for $17.00 a day and 2 sites with W/E for $15.00 per day. They are located behind the main post building close to the pool and boat ramp. The whole parking area is gated. You must have a valid American Leagon membership card in your position at check-in. Length of stay is two weeks if they are full. They do take reservations and the number is; 904-387-1581. Just about everything in the area is full right now but as of yesterday, 2-8-10 they had sites open as few know they exsist.

p.s. We are at Pacetti's fish camp on site M210 30 miles south of Jacksonville.

Will be at Blanding for a week or so, end of Feb or first week in March if anyone's around - can stop in for a beverage.
