Florida was created by JJnLilly
We are planning on 'bumming' around Florida for much of January and February before starting our volunteer gig in March. Besides the military FamCamps am looking for some places to stay on our way to the Keys. Our plan now is to stop by Tyndall in January and then head to the keys with a stop at McDill for a couple of days. However, the pull all the way to the Keys makes a longer day than we like to travel. So we are looking for some nice two or three night places to stay on the way from the Tampa area and then on the return up the Atlantic side toward Okeechobee. Any ideas would be appreciated. Have looked at the SP's but they are booked full it appears - snow-birders.

There is a very nice little park called Midway on US 41. No reservations but usally has one or two spaces open all the time. Nothing there but nature so you need to be stocked up also no sewer other than the dump. Its in the Big Cypress Perserve a mile and half past the visitors center. Its a great stopover before you get to US 1 and the Keys

Belgique, saw your note on the RV Forum. We are looking forward to the trip. In the past 7 years we have stopped for short stays at Tyndall, McDill and Mayport on our way to or from volunteering jobs. This year we decided to only volunteer for one month so we can do more moving about. Not sure how long we will stay at Key West. Still trying to figure out how to get water to the rig.

If you mean water at Sigsbee: they have several fill up points in dry camp. You can either move your rig there or take jugs. We started out with the 5 gal collapsible plastic jugs from WalMart but then went to the 40 gal bladder that Camping World sells. You can put it on the roof of your car and gravity feed it or use a pump. Home Depot (and Northern Tool) sells a 110V pump that works great. Link to pump

Link to bladder I've found this useful in other no hook up sites (COE etc) so it's worh the money to me. You have a truck so you could do the gravity feed and skip the pump....lot of folks there do that.
