Just read the review of the West Fort Hood Campground. What is involved in the "inspection" that is done on your RV before you're allowed to camp there?

During our visit, we just drove through the commercial inspection station. They waved us through. I don't know if there were any "scanners" of some type being used. We were also lucky that there wasn't a line of commercial trucks. We went through in about 3 minutes. At other installations, we've had to stop and let them look in every storage bay and the inside.

We have had inspections performed on our coach at the following locations;
Ft Drum, NY - Guard came onboard and walked through entire coach, asking if we had weapons, etc; did not look in outside compartments.
Scott AFB, IL - Guards had us open every outside compartment and looked inside.
W.E. Warren AFB, WY - RVs must go through the commercial truck entrance - once we were walked through, two other times all we did was go into an office and sign into the base.
Not a big deal for us as it does keep us safe!

Lighten up Joe..."these types of matters" is EXACTLY what this website is about.

My RV lives in the Ft. Hood long term storage lot while we're back in AK. We come and go from Ft. Hood ALOT. The inspections are not a hardship, nor are they too timely. We have always had the best folks "doing it" and always felt better afterwards. Sorta' a good safe feeling, ya' know ? You won't be inconvienced and it won't hurt a bit. ha !!
We get inspected alot of bases. Believe it or not, Ft. Monroe was the "toughest". Sure hope the civilinas keep up that historical treasure. Can't believe the us Mil gave up on it.
