Miramar has no Famcamp so I've never read much about it here or elsewhere. I read that they have a "Stay & Play" pkg for golfers that looks pretty attractive. My wife and I might want to fly down from AK mid-winter just to warm up and play golf. Does anyone here have any insider knowledge of Miramar ? I'd like to know what you think about a weeks stay there, using their on-base "Navy Inn" and facilities. Any eval on their golf course would be most appreciated also. Thnx.

Can't spaeak for the facilities or the course. But, the area is mighty nice in the winter. I use to live in SoCal and enjoyed the mild winters. The Santa Anna winds, OTOH, are a different story. but,t he don't last for more than a day or two anyway.

Miramar has a very large "Navy Inn", do not know exactly what it is called. Relatively new with a lot of construction taking place on a new building. I have never played on their course, but it is well kept, flat and well utilized. Newer clubhouse. Miramar has a lot of great facilities, easy freeway access and close to San Diego city and attractions.

Miramar has no FamCamp. The closest RV facility is Adm Baker. This is fairly close to Miramar. There is also a nice golf course at Adm Baker. I think it is nice. I'm no golfer but the golfers in my family wish I were so I would take them there.
The horse stable that was removed would have been a terrible place for an RV Park. It was way too close to the freeway. It was turned into an RV storage. That must have been needed because it looks jam packed.

Actually, Miramar does have a campground. But it's located at their
Big Bear Recreation Facility.
