Tent camping in California?

I'd like to Space A to S California, and camp at one of the military camp grounds. Are there any there with access to public transportation? I suppose I'd rent a car to get set up, and then turn it in.

Many HOP flights go into Travis, which has a nice campground with a tent area. Public transporation is all around.

what about southern California , Texas, or New Mexico for tent camping on a base? With transportation of course.

Just curious, have you done any research at all on the MCGs in those areas by looking at the information available on this web site???? Made any phone calls??
