Travis AFB to San Francisco

Travis AFB to San Francisco was created by plowman
We are planning to spend 12 days at Travis Famcamp June 2008. What would be the best way to see the sights in the area, especially the San Francisco Area? What is the availibility of parking a truck in the downtown area? How far out does the BART system go? I was stationed at Letterman General Hospital in 1971. I'm sure much has changed but I'm looking forward to seeing the area again.

We stayed at Travis and took our Jeep into San Fransisco. The hardest part was the traffic getting into the city. Once there, there's plenty of parking lots and garages. I especially liked the Alcatraz tour. Don't know about BART's route.

Thanks for the info. Guess we will drive our pickup truck in to San Francisco. We're really going in 2010.
