Ron, yes Oakland Army Base is still there but not being operated by the military. A lot of the housing is being used as rentals and the buildings are being used for a lot of different things. There is a museum there. Sorry this mail is so late.

I was stationed at Oakland Army Base in the 60s, even met and married my wife there.
We plan on going back in 2012.
Do you know if it is still being there?
Thx

At 2 different times we have stayed in Greenbrae CA in a private RV park. Gotta tell 'ya, it was expensive! But it was worth it! Walked over towards San Quentin prison and caught the passenger ferry to San Francisco. Get to enjoy the bay and view of bridges. (docks at the ferry bldg at the foot of Market St). Catch the trolley going to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Then on the famous cable car to downtown (or Chinatown). By this time it's back to the ferry bldg for the trip home. We're 77 & 78 years old, so if we can do it, so can you. Have fun!!!!
