RVing in Canada was created by davidrenne
Just LOVE this website and have found it valuable coast to coast in the US. Now want to head north into CANADA and do east to west crossing in July and August (and longer?). Do any of you fine folks know of military campground resources in Canada? Or other useful nonmilitary resources? Would be very grateful for any hints or references. Thanks!

We spent three and a half months in Canada the summer of 2005 (June 1 - September 18, 2005). We traveled west to east from our point of entry at Blaine WA. We anticipated traveling from Vancouver BC to the Maritimes by late September. That did not happen! To travel so great a distance would have required just too much traveling time and so little enjoyment of all the great places and equally great Canadian people. We plan to return to Canada, either 2008 or 2009, and will enter at the Maritimes, where we plan to remain at least one month, then move west until the weather forces us south. BTW, plan for extreme summer heat in the western provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta), also, be prepared for mosquitoes in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan! Most Canadian CGs are relatively inexpensive (most, but not all!), most have only 30 amp electric, and the water at many is very hard. There are a couple of Canadian Forces campgrounds open to US military personnel, but they are few and far between and we chose not to use them.

Military camp ground at CFB Comox on Vancouver Island called TeePee Park. Excellant spot.
