Campground Vrs RV Park was created by a Guest
After reading a couple of posts from some very dis-gruntled and outspoken campers I thought I would go to the dictionary and see if my idea of a campground was way off. Here is what I found.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Campground:
A campsite (or campground) is a place used for overnight stay in the out of doors. The term 'campsite' usually means an area where an individual, family, group or military unit might camp. There are two types of campsites:
1) an impromptu area (as one might decide to stop while backpacking or hiking,
2) a dedicated area with improvements and various facilities

RV Park:
A recreational vehicle park (RV park) or caravan park is the equivalent of a hotel for people with recreational vehicles. They provide a place to park the vehicle for overnight or several days. They are also referred to as campgrounds, though a true campground also provides facilities for tent camping; many facilities calling themselves "RV parks" also offer tent camping or cabins with limited facilities.

There was no listing for an RV Resort, but the "Resort" was extreemly high end.

Most military sites are actually listed as "Campgrounds" and are run by either "Services" or "MWR". I believe some are listed as RV Parks, and I don't think any would qualify as a resort.
I have seen a 4 star RV park (Tuscon at Beaudry RV) where they even had jucuzzi'a at each site, and this was still listed as an RV Park.
I think some of us just have high expectations of what they want in a "campground' or "RV Park". I just don't think they are going to find very many or be happy at any CG that is not 4 star or extreemly costly.
As for me I have found that 99% of the CG's are very well run and managed, and the availability of the exchange, commissary, and other ammenities are great. Another big plus is the security. Usually inside the base or right next to it and well patroled. Another thing we like is that we are with other ex military and usually a retiree like us. We have only seen a coulpe in the 4 years we have been full timers that we really don't care to see again.
All in all, the military campgrounds are great and we usually go out of our way to stay at them.
As for those who just complain about everything. I hope they mellow out and enjoy their benefits and that they don't stick their noses in places it does not belong and end up causing problems for the rest of us.
I placed this in the "Humor" area as I thought it would get a few laughs, and I really didn't see a better place for it.

Good job Frank.

Now, come up with a better term than Recreational Vehicle for the house on wheels in which my wife and I live every day of the year. Would you refer to your stick house as a Recreational Structure?

My first "motorhome" was a 1964 VW van with a Westfalia camping kit added. When I licensed it in Pennsylvania the plate came back as a "house car" and that is about as close to being accurate as I have ever seen.
