SSN on Military ID's - Not good... was created by Kokomo36
Had a new ID Card made here in Mayport. In conversation with the clerk, he said that JAX gate security was confiscating cards that still had the SSN on them. This was news to me since we visited many bases over the Summer. Just an FYI so you are ready for JAX or if this becomes widespread. The new ID does not include SSN.

When we had to get a new one for the DW several years ago, clerk asked if I wanted a new one with our SSN. Got a new one then without the SSN. DW's was confiscated at Kings Bay becasue it had expired!!! Watch the dates on spouse ID's.

Was at Jax Base yesterday and I still have my SSN on my ID card. They didn't take my card.

At present, it's a choice ... you can go in and get one w/o SSN, or keep yours. Eventually, when you renew it (if you renew it) it will have a DOD number instead.
