California Disabled Veterans License Plates

Hello:
Some of you will recall me talking about a non-handicapped Disabled Veteran license plate bill that was introduced in the CA Assembly recently. Long story short, the bill had some very heavy weight support and it past the first vote without a problem. But, the Assembly's Appropriations Committee put it on hold, along with all of the other license plate bills, without even reviewing it.

So, I'm now getting ready for the next push. A Honor California Veterans Committee was formed and I was named the Chair. Smarter people than me said it will add weight to what I'm doing. Because of my big mouth, attitude and a computer with a spell check, I'm not giving up.

Enjoy everyone and I'll keep you posted.

I put my wife on this one. She searched Florida Specialty License Plates and found a web site at www.hsmv.state.fl.us/specialtytags/SLP.html

It gave info on how to go about creating new ones, the law and application, etc. Maybe some of this will be useful to you out in CA. Florida has a few hundred and they all "support" whatever organization is featured. They have all military branches, as well as the usual dolphins and whales and, while it seems a little out of hand, they are popular.

monkey44, OurVee, thanks for the reply's. California residents could mail a letter to both there Asembly and Senate reps, citing AB 445 and how it was held for no reason. Assemblyman Nava introduced it and may try again later this year. Either way I'm pushing for it to be reintroduced in the next secession. Letters could express you concern that it wasn't given fair consideration and your desire to see it passed.

Currently, I searching for someone to do a web site, CHEAP, and I think I have someone who is willing. For the past two years I've been paying for this out of my own pocket for reasons too hard to explain. Lets just say I bull headed.

OurVee, thanks for the info. The bill, before it was held, had all of the legal bases covered along with a streamlined way to have the VA/State DMV paperwork handled. About 24 other states already have this type of plate and California is long overdue.

Otherwise, if anyone knows of anyone who can help boost this thing along, their efforts will be greatly apppreciated.

Enjoy the 4th.
