In about five more years, we plan to retire and hit the road with our fifth wheel and roam around visiting mostly military campgrounds. My question for the forum is, how do we refill prescriptions? I use the military pharmacy and the wife uses a local pharmacy (we're Tricare Prime). I realize the type of medications is a factor, but in general, how do yall do it? Thanks Stefan (Steve) Henderson

I have been using the VA clinics, change my address online and they can mail it to me or if I will be there for more than a month will pick it at their pharmacy, but that requires you to register as a new patient which is a pain in the ass waiting around. Not sure if thats an option for you or not, What about escripts?

Express Scripts. They mail the drugs to our mail forwarding address, which gets forwarded to wherever we are. Get a years prescription with 90 day refills and you'll only need to get the prescription written once a year. Depending on the drug, Express Scripts even automatically contacts the doctor for the new prescription.

And I've had the TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy (Express Scripts) mail my meds to a campground that I was only at for 10 days. Normal shipping is free but expedited shipping is $12 for the order if I remember correctly.

We have a UPS box at home and when we travel we have all our mail sent there & express scripts. Then when We want we call the UPS store and have them overnight whatever is there. I also have all our normal bills online through the bank so that way I don't have to wait for mail. I get an email from the bank then I log on and pay it. Many times before we had bills lost or got them late.

Are you eligible for VA care? If so, I would suggest that you contact your local VA A Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). They provide information on medical benefits while traveling.
