I am a disabled vet with a Golden Access card. This card has saved me untold amounts of monies when visiting our national parks. All disabled vets should go to their nearest fedral rangers office and get their free card. However, I along with many other card holders are very upset with the concessionaires that do not honor these cards. This simply put is nothing more than greed and disrespect for our veterans. The federal government when granting the contracts should require the contrators to recognize the discounts associated with the cards. When I see a vet with missing limbs and or in a wheel chair I think that these contractors should be wanting to give these brave men and women anything they can to thank them for their sacrifices. Without the vets, the contractors would possibly not have these beautiful parks to administrate.
I agree with your comments, but FYI these passes are available to anyone who is disabled and receiving federal benefits, including Social Security disability or supplemental payments.
This is a pretty broad pool. So I don't think there is any anti-veteran issue here.

And to follow up on cdrcos -- if all vendors allowed all disabled folks to discount (50% in some cases) either they would go out of business quickly, or would have to charge the "fully functional" folks an overly unfair price for the service/product just to stay in business.
We do and should give disabled folks some advantages in this good old USA, but we should not put other folks out of business just because some invididuals have gotten what might be considered a "raw deal" in life...
wife and I just got ours and every state we hit i seek out a state park to get the state version as well
which has saved us a good bit of $$$
but as a severly disabled vet i would like to see a break on the camprgrounds as well, maybe stay three get one free or something like that.
