California/non-handicapped DV plates. was created by UniMOG Dave
Hello:
It has been a while since I last posted anything on the subject and a lot has happened. So, briefly here is what's going on.
Over two years ago I discovered 29 states have a non-handicapped disabled veterans license plate and I decided Calif. should be among them. I pushed and Assemblyman Pedro Nava introduced the bill with eight coauthors. It was held in Appropriations because of a funding issue in the last session. Since then I've been working on fixing the problem. Now, after spending a month visiting all of the legislatures and several other people in the state capitol, two people are working on fixing the funding problem and several legislatures in both houses are willing to coauthor the bill.
Along with that the Lt. Govenors office said he would sponsor the bill once the funding was fixed. I've also have a couple of Senators interested in introducing the bill on the Senate side at the same time it's reintroduced in the Assembly.
At some point a friend who has been helping me decided I needed a committee. So now I am the founder and chair of The Committee to Honor California Veterans. She is the co-founder. Our web site, www.chcv.org explains what we are doing and the progress we are making. So, if you have minute, visit our site and let me know what you think. I'm still the "chief cook and bottle washer" and I answer every email that requests a reply.
Thanks
