While not specifically for veterans, those with physical disabilities may find this info useful. It is not limited to CA residents! I'm a Washington resident and to get this pass, I just made a copy of my disabled parking placard, driver's license and disabilities parking card (all issued by the state of Washington), filled out the application and mailed it in with a check for $3.50 to the address on the web site below. About a month later, I had my pass. For CA state parks, this is a real benefit, considering how much they cost these days! The info below is from the CA parks web site: www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1049

DISABLED DISCOUNT PASS
For permanently disabled persons a discount card may be purchased for $3.50 from the Department. The pass provides year-round 50% discount for use of all basic facilities (including parking and camping) in State-operated parks except Hearst San Simeon SHM. The discount does not apply to fees under $2.00 or supplementary fees, and cannot be used with any other discount/pass program.

For Veterans who are rated at 100% Disabled, there is a slightly different pass available, that will provide the vet with a pass allowing camping at NO FEE in State Parks.

Go to the same web site for information about this pass.
