I know I got into this thread late however I will say the Pittsburgh area is near hopeless for a campground. I'm from around Natrona and New Ken and when we go back to visit we normally stay up in Harrisville at Kozy Rest. Yeah it is a bit of a drive down but park is nice. This past year we had a family renunion at Westmoreland Park and low and behold unbeknownst to me three of the other campers at Kozy Rest were shirt tail cousins and I had been drinking suds with them the night before the reunion and did not even know it.
For the other posters concerning Miami my inlaws live there. When I head south I stay at Larry and Penny Thompson (muni park) off of Eureka. About 1 mile off the turnpike and about the same from Hwy 1 (south dixie hwy). Its close enough to Homestead you can shop at the Bizmart. Campground is near the Miami Zoo and I heard in its earlier days it was a mango orchard owned by the University of Miami.
