Near the end of your travels following Route 66, you will come along the fun
town of Oatman. A great place to visit! :woohoo:
Oatman is not far from Bullhead City AZ and that is only a few miles from
the Casinos of Laughlin NV.
We were in Oatman earlier this year while staying in Laughlin. It is a nice little place to visit, especially with the wild burros that wander the streets. I don't recommend that you go there in your RV. One, there is not much of a place to park an RV there. Two, the road in and out is a narrow, two lane road. Nice drive in the car.

I've changed my routing at least 4 times in the past week or so. Now we will enter AR from MS and go across AR to Texarkana into TX. Then across TX to Childress and then up to Texola and Rt 66 in OK. Then across OK into either KS or MO and back down to FL. Is there a way to go around OKC?
Larry G
Larry,
Now why would you want to go around OKC? This is one of the best parts of the state. When you approach OKC from the west, either on I-40 or St Hwy 66 you'll come to the Kilpatrick Turnpike. This is the bypass around the north side of OKC from west to east. On the east side of town it connects to I-35 and I-44 just a bit north of St Hwy 66. (I-35 goes north to Kansas and I-44 goes NE to Tulsa and parralels St Hwy 66.) If you do take the Kilpatrick besure to have a bunch of quarters because most of the toll booths are unmanned and require exact change.
The best way to come through OKC is to go straight east on I-40. You can then either take I-44 north and east and hit I-35/I-44/Kilpatrick junction on east side of town or you can go all the way through on I-40 to I-35 then north to the St Hwy 66 junction, north of town.
If it was me and I had never been here I'd schedule a couple of nights at the Rockwell RV Park at I-40 and Rockwell Ave on the west side of town. Then I'd do some exploring of the area. The OKC Bombing Memorial is an unbelievable place to visit. Also, Brick Town, on the east side of downtown has become a tremendous place. It is the old warehouse district that has become an entertainment area complete with street level canal, great baseball park, an NBA arean (where the NBA OKC Thunder play) and many other sights.
Plan to spend a couple of days in our fair city and you'll want to come back. Another RV friend, from Maine, came through Oklahoma for the first time last month. Due to an accident he wound up spending six weeks here and fell in love with the place.

Rick: We stayed at Rockwell. Very nice and not expensive. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we couldn't explore. Again, thanks for your info.

Larry, wish we'd been in town, we'd have given you the tour of our fair city. We left town last Sunday and are now in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Apparently the weather really turned sour after we pulled out. Sun was shining Sunday morning.
