Planning rv trip to Disney World?

Planning rv trip to Disney World? was created by medbery
I am a proud retired air force member who is planning a trip to Disney World next year. I have a 35' class A RV and I will be traveling along I-10 into Florida. I have checked on the Disney World park and that is not going to happen. Way to expensive, so I thought it might be best to park the RV at a base as we enter Florida and then travel to a hotel in the Disney area. I am looking for suggestions on a base to park the RV, like temporary storage? Disney World is towards the bottom of Florida, so no need to go there with the RV. Just burning fuel, which is money. Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the website!
I used to think the same as you, that the Disney World RV Park was too expensive - and it is. HOWEVER... we stayed there for a week and it worked out great and saved me money.
Consider this. By staying in the park, you don't need to pay for parking every day you visit. You can come and go to the various parks as you please. In my case, I had my adult daughter and her friend with us. They could go one way and we could go another at different times. They have free shuttles leaving all the time from the RV park to all of the various Disney parks.
You talk about getting a hotel. Wouldn't it still be cheaper to stay in the RV Park?

The cost of the park is over $100 daily and I do not believe that includes any of the entrance fees to get into any of the parks? My thought is to park the RV and then stay in a regular hotel within the park. I have done that and it did include park entrance fees. Just trying to save money. Our youngest son (38) loves everything that deals with Disney.

We are Thousand Trail members and the resort in Clermont, Fl. is a campground that allows non-members to stay there for a reasonable rate. We go to Disney when we stay there and it is about a 15 minute drive to Disney. Meals can be very costly if you stay in a motel and staying in your RV as you know really cuts down on meal costs. We live in central Florida and Disney is considered central Florida so you would travel down I75 for about 130 miles to Rt. 50 to Rt. 27 not really that far to drive the RV. Check out the website if this sounds like a viable option to you and have lots of fun no matter what you decide.

Thanks, I will see if I can find the site. I am guessing that it is listed under thousand trails website? My wife's parents were members at one time and I think one of her brothers still is? Thanks for the information. See you down the road, wherever it may be.

Encore Lake Magic is a little closer to the parks and a nice park. Off season rates should be reasonable. Entrance to a park while staying in a Disney hotel must be some kind of package. I don't think it's automatic just by being a guest in a Disney hotel. We've stayed in Disney properties a few times and without park admission included, it was over two hundred a night. And unless you get a meal plan, hold on to your wallet for dining. I'd run the numbers again because I think Larry's comments made a lot of sense.
