A word of caution on wally world camping, some Wal*Marts will ask you to not stay there, but at another Wal*Mart. Take their advice when they say this, it is usually because they do not have 24 hour security at that location, and they would rather have you at a location that has 24 hour security. Just make sure that you get in to the lot and ask the manager early enough so that if you do have to relocate to a safer location you will have the time to do it. Also remember in these cases they are moving you along for your safety, not their convenience.

And, sometimes town law says campers cannot stay overnight at the Wal-mart ... it varies by town. Although I personally have only stayed a couple of times at Walmart in an "emergency" when tired and can't find anything else or a rest stop, the general knowledge is that Walmart welcomes the overnighter because it brings in business that night or the next day.
Unfortunately, some folks set right up and open slides and light-off BBQ and stretch out for a few days ... that may ultimately kill what is otherwise a very convenient stop-over for travelers... as usual, some thoughtless individuals might ruin what for some is a great[occasional] option on the road.

We are currently in Savannah, Georgia at a very nice RV Park. On the way out from Oklahoma we did stay two nights in Wal-Mart lots. In Savannah, TN, and Marietta, GA. In Tennessee there was no problem and the manager welcomed us to stay. In Georgia we first stopped in Kennesaw at a Wal-Mart in a fairly upscale part of town. As always, we spoke with the manager and was advised that the city ordinance did not allow overnight parking. The manager, an RVer himself, was very nice and said he really did not understand the cities attitude. We immediately got on the phone and called Wal-Mart in Marietta, the next town, and they said "come on down".
The key is ALWAYS ask first. Very seldom will the no overnight parking policy be from Wal-Mart. It will normally have to do with the local city.
BTW, our next stop this Thursday is Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, SC.
