I was just wondering if there was anyone else here that geocaches while on the road? I have been doing it for a few years and I find that at home or on the road geocaching can take you to some of the nicest and most out of the way places you would have never known about.

What is geocaching? Geocaching www.geocaching.com is a game where you try to get to a given location using a hand held GPS unit. Once there you have to find a container with a log book in it and sign the book. There are other aspects to the game, but them's the basics. Like I said, a great way to see places you might never have seen.

For those that want to play a similar game that doesn't use a GPS, there is Letterboxing www.letterboxing.org for letterboxing you use a compass (sometimes) and instead of signing in you have a rubber stamp that you stamp a book with. The letterbox has a stamp in it that you can stamp your own book with.

Both games can be a lot of fun and will take you to some really nice places. Also they can provide a little low budget entertainment on the road.

We starting Geocaching in 2001. About 6 months after this game started. I was OBSESSED with this game! Back then, a website in Sweeden kept statistics on all Geocachers on who had found the most hidden caches in the world. We were #7 in the world for a few months. We were #1 in Arizona state for a few years. Did I say I was obsessed?

But we finally got burned out and haven't been so aggressive in the past few years. We've looked for less than a hundred since 2004. But I agree, it's a fantastic game to get outdoors and discover new places.

In the geocaching community, we're known as "Team Wyle E". Happy hunting!
