This is a list of Naval Aircraft I worked on while on active duty.
SNB Beach Craft Only fabric A/C Plane Captain
WV2 Superconnie Engine Mech Parachute Rigger
P2V-5 Neptune No Jets Parachute Rigger
P2V-7 Neptune With Jets Emergency Equip
P3 Orion Hydraulics and Structures
F4B - F4N - F4S Phantom II Hydraulics and Structures
A7A - A7B - A7E Corsair II Hydraulics and Structures
F14-A F14-B Tomcat Hydraulics and Structures
F/A18 Hornet Hydraulics and Structures
In the Navy your mechanical ability is put pretty much on the back burner to your leadership ability at the E6 level. I was a CVW-8 Flight Deck Maintenance Chief on the USS Nimitz and the Squadron Maintenance Chief in my last two Squadron assignments.
After Military retirement I was the Ramp Manager for Eastern Airlines at Jacksonville, FL until their demise. Then I took an entry level job as a tool and parts attendant at the Naval Aviation Depot at NAS Jacksonville, FL just to get my foot in the door. Soon an in-house promotion was posted in the Hydraulic Shop and I was selected. Ended my Government employment testing and repairing hydraulic components for the F/A18 Hornet. (See, that training finely paid off).
