Ebay auction, and buying an RV was created by karylkoch
I made the mistake of looking at the RV's on Ebay, and saw one I really like, and it is in out price range. Does anyone know, if they know someone who has bought a RV off Ebay. Sure would like to hear any pros or cons.

Well, I have never bought a motorhome on eBay, but I have bought 3 motorhomes off of rvonline.com and rvsearch.com. I have bought 2 cars of off eBay and I sold 1 motorhome on eBay.
One piece of advice. If the ad says something to the effect of "5000.00 deposit required in 48 hours after close of auction" I would not send it. I would show up to look at the item before I put any money down. I bid on a Chevy Suburban once that had a picture taken sitting in a showroom floor. Looked brand new. They wanted $1000 deposit with 72 hours and the car was located in Houston Tx. The morning after I won the bid I jumped in my Tracker with the wife and we took off to Houston. When we got there that Suburban looked like a crew of roughnecks lived in the thing for a year. I told the go "no deal" and left. Come to find out he was buying up any late model Suburbans he could get to auction on eBay. He had 5 or 6 stock pictures of clean Suburbans (red, black, white, etc.) that he would use for the auctions but the cars were nowhere near in as good a shape as the pictures. I reported him to eBay but they did not even stop him from posting auctions. A month later I won the bid on another Suburban in Alabama and it really was like a new one when I got there so I bought it.
I sold my '02 Bounder diesel on eBay. I listed it on a Wednesday and somebody called me Thursday morning and wanted to come see it. He drove from Virginia to Augusta, GA on Friday and bought it.
I had it listed with a starting bid and also a "Buy Now" price.

Hi karyl, I've been a member of the eBay network for seven years and do both selling and buying. When we decided to hit the road with an RV home our first major research place was eBay. I still think that the best RV presentations are on eBay and reference them often in various forums. The eBay management teams have a lot of checks and balances in their "eBay motors" section. If you are interested in a dealers item you may be able to deal with them directly. If it is a private party you will be pretty much on your own and I would recommend taking the time to go and look at the rig before making that final bid because you are in a buyer beware situation. On the brighter side; Almost all of the items I’ve purchased on eBay have been from private sellers and I have never received one that was misrepresented. When selling I’ve always been paid.

It's like buying from a dealer they tell you all the good stuff not the bad. Always check it out first before buying it. It may look great in the pictures but if the motor is bad your stuck if you gave them money down.

I saw the same thing. Owner sent me many pictures and answered questions, but I still thought it was too much. He didn't get any bids and didn't relist. About 3 mos. later I emailed him and asked if it was still for sale. It was, I offered what I though it was worth,he accepted and I wound up driving to Billings, MT (from Minnesota) to pick it up.
It was a good deal as I was unable to find a used, late model HitchHilker like the one we wanted in the area.
