We are planning on heading south from New England on a very slow trip to Key West in a couple of months. We have driven down a few times in the car and took 95. This time, with the coach, we want to take our time....use the Chesapeake bridge to Little Creek, then mosey down on Route 17. Anyone have any words of wisdom about Route 17?
I do the Warrenton to Newport News section all of the time.. but it sounds like you are headed down the Eastern Shore on 13 and then 17 South of Norfolk.. Did Camp Lejune to Myrtle last year.. good road bur very suburban/urban around Wilmington & thru Myrtle.. used to be ok down thru Elizabeth City & Chery Point years ago..

Have driven it a number of times with TC and bike trailer ... no problems, nice drive, does get "housy" some times and crowded sometimes depending on the season -- but it's a nice trip.
Earlier this year we went from Sarasota,FL to NewPort,R.I. and we used as many back roads a possible on the way up. Didn't go Eastern shore. We have done the Eastern shore so many times before. We went across Hampton tunnel from Norfolk then exited off I-64. It was really a new adventure. The small towns and out of the way places to stop were refreshing. Hope you do the same.
