It will take a bit higher fuel price to stop us. We are staying longer in sites by paying the weekly or monthly rate and when we get ahead a little we head on down the road. Lot of times paying a month is cheaper than three weeks of weekly.

I understand that Great Pond starting next year is changing the stay 6 days and the 7th is free policy. The free day will be no longer available unless you pay for it. Does anyone know if other MCG's are doing the same? I heard that if they don't show a profit they could be closed down. That would certainly be a shame as they are one of the better MCG's. We plan to stay reguardless of the increase.

I'd hope most would stay open as long as the costs are covered, at least. These MWR programs are supposed to be for recreation, not profit in that sense.

If an MCG is not sustaining itself it is because of the management of the MCG. I can't imagine any MCG closing because of lack of attendance unless it is not manitained to some decent acceptable level.

Having been full timers for going on 5 years now, we are considering scaleing back on our "Road Time". We usually go from coast to coast each year but we are considering staying on one coast for a year instead.
Yes, diesel prices are killing us, but they are droping right now. It would be nice if they stableized more so we could actually figure a usable budget.
We just saw diesel today outside Hill AFB for $3.95 / gal at flying J. I got it for $4.04 a gallon at Flying J in Winamucca NV and used a cred card and they did not charge extra for using credit.
I use an Air Force "Club Card" for fuel only and keep it pretty well paid off. It works great for us.

It's starting to turn the other way Frank. Diesel fuel at Taylors, SC Wal-Mart is $3.31 today and is expected to go below the $3.00 mark within two weeks.
