While making reservations into a beachfront RV park in Destin, FL some time ago we were talking with the site manager on the cell and she asked how long our 5er was. I told her 38. She called out to Larry to go check and see how long site such and such was. In about three minutes ole Larry comes back and says "38 ft" and the lady says "got you a spot on the Beach". We drew a crowed while parking in that spot. By the time I got it in there I was about one inch from a 12 ft wall with my ladder and my hitch was about one inch off the road. Now my actual length is 37ft 10in from the front of my hitch to the back of my ladder. Great big point - NEVER under estimate your dimensions.

I always over state my unit's length. Would rather not have a spot than try to shoehorn my rig into a spot. I did it once - at lackland backing into a reverse angled spot on a curve. It was just too hard on the DW and me - never again.

We camped recently at Fiddler's Cove on the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, CA. One windy rainy night a guy pulled in with a monster 5er and started backing into a spot on the bay side. I watched in fear and listened for a scraping sound indicating that he had hit my Class A which was legally parked across the road. The scraping sound never happened but there was a strange pop and a long pause in the backing up process.
The next morning we found the wife in the 5er out in the street cleaning up glass as the male member of the duo was taping plastic to the hole that had previously been a back window.
The site was long enough but they are so narrow it takes real skill to get a big rig into a position behind the red lines.
