Yippee!!!!!!!!!! was created by karylkoch
For the second time this month I have had to update my information. Someone new to the site, used the name karyl with initials added to the name. I checked her profile, and she was listed as Carol. Since this is my God given name and I did not want any confusion, I changed it to the current name.

Well I'm really excited about this change. We have been full-timing for almost 7 years now, and have had the same used RV we started out with. Well we have bought a newer 2003 Newmar motorhome. This is a change I am really happy about.

I now feel I will be writing incognito, with so many changes to my profile. Now I don't know, if this is good or not, but just wanted to share. We do still have our dog Susie, and I hope this will be true for years to come.

In the USAF a "Chief" is an E9 and in the USN an E7. Is yours a W5?

hehehe --- just a little fun with your new nick.

My Chief, is a Warrant Officer 4, who served in the Army. I know there are different ranks of Chiefs, in the military. My stepfather was a chief petty officer, in the Coast Guard, and not considered an officer. I do understand that the Coast Guard has Warrant Officers, put haven't a clue what a WO 4 would be called. I just know my husband will always be Chief to me. I can't count the times when he came home, that I told him to leave his Chief's hat at the door. In our travels a Captain noticed his bars on his sticker, and I will never forget what he said to my husband. He said, I see you are a chief WO, and I know they are considered, just a little below God. We got a good chuckle out of that. ::)

Retired as a Navy Chief Warrant Officer (W-4) and as most Navy CWOs, became a Chief Petty Officer on the way (not was, like a Marine, one is always a Chief Petty Officer)

A member of our Arctic Fox camping group is a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer (both of us are aviation, he flew 'em.. I fixed 'em) .. we have had some interesting discussions about the cultural differences between the two services.

Forms of address (I believe these also apply to all Sea Services USN, USMC & USCG)

Formal.. second person Mister or Chief Warrant Officer
Formal.. third person Chief Warrant Officer

Informal.. Gunner (old school) or Warrant

The number is a pay grade, not a title..

Since I am very proud of my appointment to Chief Petty Officer, when I am addressed as Chief I consider it a compliment.

Well my husband, has not been associated with the Navy, Marines or Coast Guard, but he was assigned to a floating craft unit. We have a sticker on our car that says sail army. Many people have been surprised that he was assigned as a chief engineer on a tug boat, but was with the army. His last assignment was on a floating crane, as a crane master. Before he got out he sailed on a tug boat, pulling the huge floating crane, over to England. They hit some really bad storms. The real surprise, and scary part for me, was that the tug boats were deemed not Sea worthy, shortly after they were commissioned. The crane also got the same status. They needed to reposition them to a English port, so suddenly they became sea worthy. I guess all is still fair in love in war.
