Would you buy the same rig again?

If you could do it again would you buy the same rig? Would you go bigger or smaller? TT, 5th wheel or MH. Gas or Diesel?

In the past 10 years I have had a 40' 5th, a 34' 5th, 36' DP and presently have a 40' DP. Been FT since 02 except for an 18 month break.

When we bought our last coach (07 Monaco Diplomat w/4 slides) I though I had finally got what I wanted. If I had to do it over again I would have gone with a 42' with tandem axles. The greater CCC would be appreciated and the stability of the extra axle would be nice.

Overall I am quite happy with the quality of the coach and am especially happy with Monaco's response to any problems I have had. I think they will survive the shake out that is going on presently. I would not hesitate to buy another one if it met my needs.

Some of the others I have had I wouldn't take them i you gave them to me. They were rolling disasters with no factory support.

What are your feelings about what you have?

I too have a Monaco, a 1007 36' Cayman XL with four slides. Actually this is our third coach and second Monaco. I would not hesitate to buy another Monaco. We moved from a 34' Monaco LaPalma (gas) to our current Cayman (diesel). We looked at 40' Diplomat but stayed with the 36' because that is all that will fit in my driveway. Not sure I want a tag axle due to the loss of bay space but also my next one will be a side mounted radiator instead of the rear radiator that is on the Monaco Diplomat and below. Monaco currently only builds one side mounted radiator coach without a tag and that is a 40' Camelot. I've probably put more on here than most non Monaco owners care about but those are my opinions.

I agree with you on the side mount radiator. I would also prefer that configuration.
One thing I like about the rear radiator is the protection plate under the radiator. They definitely got it right there. I don't know if the side mount has that protection.

To the best of my knowledge the only Monaco 40' tag is a Dynasty and I really didn't much care for the floor plan on that one.

That said I would be willing to go to a 42' to get the tag. On a 42' I would get about the same bay storage as on my 40' but a lot more ccc.

John,

Last I checked all Dynasty's had a tag axle. At the Monaco International Pre-Rally in Minnesota this past July they had a 38' Dynasty and it even had a tag. (They only built a few of these and have not been able to sell them.) The Camelot 40' does not have a tag but the 42' does. The Camelot is a hybrid. It has the side radiator, like the big boys, but has the frame of the Diplomat. To get the heavy duty frame you have to go to a Dynasty, Executive or Signature. Big difference between the Diplomat and the Dynasty is at lest $100,000. Even that little 38' Dynasty has a price tag of over $350,000 on it.

Right, all the Dynasty's have a tag. The 38' is actually about 40' which is why I said 40'. At the Monaco NW rally earlier this year one of the people had one. It is a nice coach but a bit small for me. They also lost one of the bays so while the CCC is great you don't have anywhere to put the stuff.

The Knight, Dip and Camie all share a similar chassis, the RR8. And as you said the Camie has the side radiator. If I had to do it over again I would have gone with the 42' Camelot and the rear bath. But I don't so I will just be content with what I have.
