Fire Arms on Base

Fire Arms on Base was created by Billr
We have had a couple of "scares" and are seriously considering buying a shotgun. The base weapons requirements are something we are wondering how most people handle. I suspect many folks don't bother to report their weapons. Too much of a hassle. Finding the dammed armoury on most bases is an challenge enough. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks

This issue has been cussed and discussed many times on here. Go to Pot Pourri section and look for the subject line. Every base has a different policy. Personally, we have NEVER been questioned about having a firearm in the coach upon entering a base. If asked I'll gladly tell them what I have and follow their directions. But again, we have never been asked. All the base campgrounds we have stayed at have been Navy except for two AF bases in North and South Dakota. Neither the gate guards at any of the Navy or the two AF bases have even mentioned weapons. All they ever say is "Have a nice day, Chief".

As Oldchief46 stated each base/post has their own policy. e.g. McConnel AFB is posted "No Weapons". Fort Riley, you must declare your weapons prior to entry with the Provost Marshall, get your form stamped, then go get your iron before you can carry on with your business. Better to know the policy instead of being detained by an 18 year old MP/SP with gun, badge & ego and possibly be barred from the installation permantly.

Just one of many - others welcomed!
