Don't know where to put this ??

Am currently traveling around the country 'solo' and also do some 4x4 back-country excursions. As I 'age gracefully' I begin to wonder about safety etc, on these trips. Had an incident in Texas recently that make me 'second think' that 4x4 camping alone.

So, I wonder if any of you ever look for short-term trips in national parks or other areas and want to hook-up for a trips for 'in case of break-downs' or other caravan or joint camping for those reasons.

I know some of us are chatting about Alaska next year, but I'm thinking here shorter trips, and in the western states this year.

Monkey44.
I love 4wheeling on the trails also. There is a change of plans this year for me,My DW father owns a lawn bussines
and he needs me to strech his 16 foot equipment trailer to a 20 footter.(Cut and weld new extension plus fabricate side ramps for easy loading). After that I will be in NM and TX area, If you happen to be there I will like to hook with you.
I'm a gearhead and carry some tools with me including a diagnostic tool for those troubled sensors and engine lights, and I will help anyone whitting my limits.

I traded my Jeep Liberty for Jeep Wrangler 2 door I love it.

Anyhow mobile safe my brother.

Sounds great -- just returned from a short trip to Big Bend in Texas, and plan a longer trip next winter. Pretty warm there in summer months ... would be good to hook up and take a few excursions ...

Maybe we can put a caravan section here somewhere (maybe by state, like the State CG section, where we can post short trips in certain areas, and then coordinate with others that want to do it. We can all say where we are now, and where we've been. I'm specifically thinking about out-of-the-way areas rather than "meet at MCG's" for example -- and for the safety reasons more than anything ...

But if we had a spot to 'request campers' kinda, like "Big Bend Texas in January" for example, then others planning to be in that area, or suddenly deciding to go because of others there at the same time ... so I'll think about this a bit and ask Larry ...

Hey Monkey!!!

I'm a solo also and I'm heading west from Georgia in about a month. Gonna take my granddaughters camping for about 3 weeks in Northern Arizona (I know, I know....I'm brain dead), then I'm dumping them and heading to Yosemite, Yellowstone, Cody, and the Black Hills from about the end of June til the end of July.

Let me know if you're going to be in the neighborhood...I'll buy ya a cup of coffee (or maybe something a little bit stronger!) and we can tell each other lies about "the good old days."

If we're close enough, I really don't mind detouring a little. Like I tell my kids when they ask where I'm going.....I just point in some direction!

Anybody else heading in that general direction is welcome to join us!

John

I just returned to Mass from Ga, Fl, Tx, and others. Am currently 'fixing' the house and listing it for sale next week - then I'm gone again. Been waiting for spring to sell it.

Have been full-timing it for about five or six months, although I've been kinda half-timing it for several years.

I'm heading up to Maine for a couple weeks, then Vt, NY and then heading all the way to the west coast beginning in mid-August ... will spend as much time as I can in the Rockies until it gets cold, then on to the coast. Also plan to take the western coast south, then into Az NM and Tx again - and will probably winter in Florida/Georgia ...

But, as I mentioned, I like back-country NP areas, and could use some company for specific trips just because its safer --breakdowns one thing, but also just plain safety in backwood areas. I'm getting a little too ancient to hike much, but do like the 4x4 areas alot. I have a PU with TC, so can get anywhere -- and that's part of why I've never done the TT or MH trips.

I'm heading west from Georgia at the end of the month, and will be in Noo Yawk in August (gonna spend a week in Albany at the Giants training camp to check out the new talent...LOL). Maybe we'll cross paths.

Good luck on your travels and stay safe!
