Need Advise on European Travel

This topic isn't completely related to RVing and I apologize up front for posting it on this website, but I need some trustworthy info that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. I figured that many of my fellow service members have a wealth of knowledge on overseas travel that I have not been able to get anywhere else.

One of the bucket list items for my chief of staff and I is a 30 day or more trip to Europe using Space A air, MWR lodging, and perhaps a RV rental. Those details aren't difficult to plan. The hard part is what happens after boots on the ground.

I could just get on the plane and wing it (no pun intended), but I suspect that it would be best to put an op spec together to preclude sleeping on a street corner somewhere in Spain because I screwed the pooch.

Has anyone done this? What reliable internet resources are available? Could I find a 'sponsor' type individual, either military or civilian, who either lives or has lived there to guide me thru the research process?

We used 1-800-auto europe 8 years ago and got great deals on auto rentals.
Now there is a website
www.autoeurope.com/
The tabs along the top take you to hotels, rail tickets and more.

clarkhoward.com has great advice on overseas travel.
You can find info about exchanging money, cellphone usage and more.
Make sure your favorite charge card has insurance for your car rental overseas.

Some good websites and Clark Howard was a program I used to listen to all of the time when I was stationed in GA.

Appreciate the help.
