Oklahoma Route

Oklahoma Route was created by skyking8
I'm looking for some info on a route from TX to MO via OK. Info on the 4 axle charge for the turnpike from Oklahoma City to Joplin, MO and the number of toll booths would be helpful. It's difficult to get the info from their own websites.
I'd like to do the famcamp at Sill or Tinker, but from what I see on the maps and the lack of turnpike info, it might be easier to take a back road from Dallas thru the SE side of OK.

We did it all in 2008.. Drove from Joplin to Tinker to Ft Sill to Wichita Falls.
I do not remember the toll being outrageous.. they have toll booths in the middle of the road in the middle of nowhere. The tolls were nothing like Maryland or the Tappan Zee Bridge (we are also four axle)
Try here for toll info..

I live in Oklahoma. The turnpikes are a bi**h. We have more miles of toll roads than any state in the Union.
From OKC to Tulsa on the Turner Turnpike is $3.50 for two axles. If you are towing then it is considered to be four axles and the charge is $8.00. From Tulsa to the Missouri state line is also $3.50 and $8.00 on the Will Rogers Turnpike. On both of these turnpikes there are only one toll booth each (if you don't get off in between cities) and they are at the midway points.
The H.E. Bailey Turnpike is from the state line above Wichita Falls and runs to OKC. It has several toll booth located along the way and most are unmanned, which means you must have exact change. Most do have a change machine but if you are in a motorhome you'll have to get out of the coach and go around to the machine because their height is set for cars.
You can take State Highway 66 (the old US 66) from OKC to Tulsa for a scenic route. From Tulsa it heads north up through Kansas before moving over into Missouri. This is a two lane road, in pretty good shape, and mostly parallels the Turner and Will Rogers Turnpikes.
A side note on the history of our turnpikes. In the 1950's, when the Turner Turnpike was first built, the promise was that as soon as the turnpike bonds were paid off it would become a free road. The Turner Turnpike from OKC to Tulsa is the biggest money producer of all of them. Well, over the years as the Turnpike Authority has built new turnpikes they have continued to mortgage the Turner Turnpike on the new turnpike bonds. Since most of the state's turnpikes lose money each year the Turner will never be paid for. So much for the 1950's politicians promises. As times change they seem to remain the same.
