This is a true story, I could never make this up --
I went to rent a storage unit to move trailer and camper inside - needs 10'6" clear to drive in and unload - called unit and asked door height - mgr said 12' ... great. will come look. Got there, looked at doors in alley, and said, those doors here are 10', where are the 12' doors??? She says, down the alley ... so we walk down the alley, and all the doors are 10' ... we get to the end, and she says "here, 12' ... " ???
(I look at all the doors, same height, all of them) Took out my tape and WE measured it - 10' tall ... I looked back at the row of doors, all the same height, and asked her, "these are 10', where are the 12' ... she says, "right here" ... No, we just measured these, they're 10' .... she says, "no, they're 12' ... says it on my note inside" So, we measured it again - that's twice, both of us. TEN FEET, no doubt.
So, we walk back to the office and she looks at her pencil note on a scrap of paper, which says 12' and says, "Wait, I'll call my mom (owner) and ask her." SO she phones - mom answers "Mom, how tall are the doors" mom says, "12' ... " ... she looks at me and says, "See, they're 12' ..." I couldn't believe my ears ... SO, I said, "Wait, we just measured them, they're 10' ..." She says, "Nope, Mom says they're 12' ..." So, she goes outside and gets her assistant to go measure the doors ... She comes back in and says, "Guess the doors are 10' ... Gary just measured it" ....
It's not often I'm speechless, but this one did it = ONLY IN AMERICA ...
