US 16 in WY

Hi everyone,

We are on our way to Yellowstone National Park and then to Cody, Wy and then Buffalo, Wy before Devils Tower.

We have a 40' Class A HR and was looking at the map, has anyone been across US16 - Big Horn Mtns in a Big Rig.

I really do not want to go up to I-90 across and down to Buffalo. US 14 is closed due to a slide.

I've done it with my 5er several times. Two lanes, steep grades up, lots of twists and turns, but it's a really scenic route and it's doable. I've seen several motorhomes doing it also. If you're a white-knuckle driver, you'd probably be better off heading up to 90. If not, go for it! Just take your time and take advantage of the many scenic turnouts along the road. Lots of photo opportunities and wildlife along the way.

Like Sarge says it is a great trip. I did it once pulling a 30 foot 5th wheel and again with a little toyota 4 cyl. camper. Did alright but little 4 cyl. almost did not make it. Plenty of pulloffs so no worry about holding up traffic. Take it easy and enjoy the trip and stay safe.
