Personally, I would pick a National rig over an Alfa. Both Alfa and National had some sidewall issues like other manufacturers but Alfa had more than their share. Some say that's what put them out of business. Alfa also has a reputation of being an electrical/electronic nightmare. I think you'll find the fit and finish of a National product better. Not to say there are not many proud, happy Alfa owners. Just my opinion.

We own a 2008 National Tropical Diesel motorhome, and have found it to be very dependable. While the motorhome manufacturer is bankrupt, the warranties on the engine, transmission and other important parts is still in force. Even one of the largest motorhome manufacturers, Monaco, went bankrupt and was purchased by other investors. We did learn the new owners were not honoring warranties on the motorhome chassis. In mid 2007, most RV purchasers left the market due to the economy, and several manufacturers went bankrupt. It appears that the RV market is coming alive again.

Regarding any ‘orphan’, you need to remember that most of the components of a given RV are available ‘off-the shelf’. The chassis and drive-train are supplied, as are all of the fixtures, appliances, furniture, etc. The ‘fiberglass’ is all that most manufacturers make/supply, and that can be taken care by most good body shops...

I totally agree and keep in mind that most of the RV manufacturers that went out of business were the ones who were building the better quality rigs - that is why they folded, folks didn't want to pay for the quality :( .

Good luck!

Alfa closed shop years ago, about the same time as many others did. But you'll still see many Alfa's on the road.
