Replacement of carpet

I’m looking for some input on replacing the carpet flooring in my 38’ motor home, with 2 slides. I would like to put tile down if possible. I defiantly do not want to put carpet back in, I want something that will stand up to water especially in front of the shower and kitchen area. It also needs to be able to expand and contract in hot and cold weather also take the movement of the motor home driving down the road.
I would appreciate any input on this matter.
Thank you terry

I had my Bounder redone with standard linoleum tile. I found a guy that did everything behind the seats with the tile, and the dog house and front area in carpet. Cost me $500.

You might think about linoleum outside the wet areas, and laminate for the rest.

Laminate is good for movement, and will take the temperature changes well.

Dupont makes a very versatile laminate with the pad attached and 30-yr warranty ... not difficult to install. Best to go with the pad attached, not separate pad.

Home Depot has the Dupont line and some look like tile and some wood and some stone patterns. If you're handy, it's easy to install, and if not, HD probably has installers, but you need to follow the directions exactly or you'll have 'binding' problems in hot weather (expansion) ...

Says laminate is good for wet areas too - but it does have snap in connectors that are very good and tight, altho I'd suspect it a little iffy when it gets lots of water, like outside a shower - but I've seen it installed in kitchens with good success.

We installed duPont laminate in out stick built kitchen several years ago. had a stone pattern and really looked nice. Went together without too many problems and did it myself.

It will handle spolls fairly good. But, I wouldn't want to soak it with a bucket. The surface is tough as nails and the joints are nice and tight.

On our previous motor home, I replaced my living area carpet with laminate flooring.

Here's a short article I wrote on the project.

We plan to replace our carpet as well, we were going to go the ceramic tile but a few issues came up (1) weight, (2)cracking when the unit flexes (3)alinment under the slideout rails to prevent warping. So we have decided to go with the individual adhesive tiles with additional adhesive put down for extra strength. The reason for self stick adhesive tile is (1) cost (2) local LOWES purchase w/ military discount,(3) easy to replace, (4) easy to maintain, (5) great clearance under the slide and flexes with unit. (6) it's a do it yourself project with no labor cost but you and you know what and how you put it down.
