Hi,
I've installed a solar controller and 8 solar panels on my motorhome. This gives me 1000watts (1KW) of solar, with a maximum charge rate of about 60amps (DC) an hour. We dry-camp (boondock) quite a bit and have an electric residential refrigerator. We also are on the computer and watch TV for about 4 hrs most evenings. We only need to run the generator for the convection oven/microwave when cooking for more than a few minutes or if we don't have sun for a couple days. Of course, I can't run the A/C on the inverter.
You can see photos and short technical write-up on my solar installation here.
