RV WASHING

Need some sound advice now that I have my new RV. I want to ensure my RV is well taken care of for maintenance and cleanliness. I want to eventually tackle washing and waxing my own RV at least once this year to give it my own personal touch. Until then, I researched other options and found; local mobile car washing companies and Blue Beacon Truck Washing, which is what the truck drivers use.

Has anyone used a truck washing company ? If so, what do was your experience ?

I've used a mobile car wash at a campground that allowed it, but the neighbors complained the entire time the guys had the motor running on their pump. Truck washes charge by the foot and I've never had a problem with them. The price they charge is usually equal to or less then the cost of going to a car wash and slugging quarters.

Will wash my 40' rig myself, when I can (and it's allowed). However, waxing is another story. I'll use a local mobile RV wash (if allowed in the park). But I insure they use Lambs Wool, not brushes.

My motorhome is full body paint and mainly black. Brushes scratch the heck out of it and they really show up on the black paint. This is why I insist on using Lambs Wool (I'll even provide the mits) and won't use truck washes.

After the good insight, we will either wash our own or use mobile car wash, but not a truck wash. The last thing I want to do is mess up or scratch the full body paint. So we will treat it like a baby and pamper it.

we wash our by hand and use a pressure washer to rinse. I use my onboard SOFTENED water and it helps keep spots down and drying easier.
we paste wax once a year......takes me about a week

if we are at a cg that frowns on washing and we are dirty dirty, i will pull into a rest area and use my onboard water to quick wash the big stuff

then wait to a positive cg to wash her real good
so far the yearly paste wax is doing real well and makes washing up real easy

When we returned home last summer, 1st thing was to get the windows of the cab tinted. While there there was a detail shop in the back and I asked about getting it washed and waxed and was quoted $125 for hand wash and wax. Tint shop said they did good work. The is an RV wash place locally that is part of a national chain, $20 for basic car wash, I paid I think about $75 prior to our trip last summer and it was hand dry and spray wax.

Got to get it out for this summer and get washed waxed and ready to go. Friends say take to mexico and get it done cheap, but I wont leave the usa just for that, matter of fact I refuse to leave anymore and wife is PO'd that I also refuse to get a passport. Last company I worked for wanted to get me one, I told them no way also. Ill go anywhere in USA but not out and as a result spend summer of 99 at Ft Polk, La (a real paradise for sure), and then opened 2000 with a month at Savannah Ga out in the boondocks (Camp Oliver, yes another great location) 23 years in army had spend about 3 hrs at POLK and it was due to having to wait for a fuel truck for the aircraft.
