I have replaced my towed vehicle and need to get a braking system installed. Does anyone have ideas on which one is the best without braking the bank?

we tow a 13 Hyundai, and I got the SMI system from the guy we bought the rv from. Works well runs about $1000 I believe but you can probably find cheaper than at CW? Its a installed type of unit that does not require it be installed/removed each time. Flick a switch on the kick panel and its on or off. It is easy to remove if ya need to as I said the guy we bought from had it taken out of his mini-cooper only thing we didn't get were the base plates but would need them anyhow.

Look at craigs list for used units or ebay etc.

Also what type rv gasser or diesel, will make some difference as air brake units are a little different.

When I had a gas motor home, I used a SMI system. Worked great.

With my diesel motor home and air brakes, I use the Air Force One system. Works even better!

I very much dislike the portable ones you have to install and remove each time you want to tow. With the two above systems it's plug it in (electric connection or air line) and you're ready to go!

I use the M&G Braking System. It is an air brake system, but has an adapter that allows it to be used on gasoline motorhomes. Their factory is in Athens, TX, but has dealerships.

Here is the link to their website:

Have used Ready Brute Ready Brake system for several years happy with the product, happy with the price. Only downside is size of dealer network
